The causes of melanoma cancer can be varied and so it makes the identification of the condition quite difficult. A person may always be having a particular kind of skin, but may suddenly develop some kind of abnormal growth and should immediately suspect the presence of melanoma skin cancer. So what is melanoma skin cancer that causes so much of distress to those who are affected by this malignant melanoma cancer? The answer is not as simple because of the many causes of melanoma cancer. The most important factor that is one of the main causes of melanoma cancer is the fall of sunlight on the person. Though all people who have the sunlight falling on them do not get melanoma skin cancer, the duration of the exposure to the sun’s rays and the severity of the exposure play a major role in the occurrence of malignant melanoma cancer.

The presence of dysplastic moles on the body is also one of the causes of melanoma cancer. Though there may be many dysplastic moles on some people, they may not have any symptoms of melanoma cancer, but there are few, who are at a great risk because of the presence of the dysplastic moles on their body.

The color of the skin may also be one of the risk factors and people who have fair skin which has a risk of burning easily can be affected by melanoma cancer. This makes fair skin to be one of the causes of melanoma cancer. The reason for this could be because of the fact that when a person has skin that is fair, the sun damages the skin quicker than it damages the darker skin.

A person who has had melanoma skin cancer before could suffer from another bout of the disease and so the previous history of the disease could be one of the causes of melanoma cancer. Other than this, the family history where one of the close relatives has suffered from melanoma can also be one of the causes of melanoma cancer.

A person who is suffering from immune system that is weakened due to the presence of one of the other diseases can also be affected by melanoma cancer. There are certain disease like AIDS that is caused by the human immuno deficiency virus, which reduces the immunity of the body and so can be one of the causes of melanoma cancer. There are also certain other situations like the transplantation of an organ that can compromise the immune system that can be one of the major causes of melanoma cancer.

Though there are many causes of melanoma cancer, the rays of the Sun can cause the major part of the damage. The reason for this to occur is the ultra violet rays that are emitted from the Sun. The rays damage the skin and can be the most important one of the causes of melanoma cancer.

There are various causes of lymphoma cancer and the causes of lymphoma cancer are directly related to the lymphoma cancer symptoms that are exhibited by the person suffering from the disease. There are also different types of lymphoma cancer and you should know the symptoms as they can also shed light on the causes of lymphoma cancer. The person who is suffering from various kinds of immune compromised diseases are those who are at a greater risk of being affected by this disease.

One of the common causes of lymphoma cancer is the abnormal growth of the lymphoid tissue cells in the body. One should realize that the lymphatic system is one that actually transports the lymphatic fluid from one part of the body to another and when the tissues related to this system have abnormal growth that cannot be controlled by the body, then it can be considered to be one of the major causes of Lymphoma cancer.

Mutation of the genes in the body can also be one of the causes of Lymphoma cancer. The genes in the body do not mutate under normal condition, but they can do so when the immune system of the person is not functioning properly. This makes the immune compromised status of the individual to be another of the causes of Lymphoma cancer.

There are many conditions where the person may be affected where the immune system is compromised. In these situations, the lymphoma cancer can occur. The diseases that can cause the immune compromised status are human immuno deficiency virus infection that can cause AIDS. There are many other viruses like the Epstein Barr virus that has also been associated with the Lymphoma cancer.

As mentioned earlier, the gene mutation can be one of the causes of Lymphoma cancer. In these cases, the mutation of the gene can occur because of family history of breaking up of the genes in the person. This makes one to understand that family history plays a major role in the occurrence of Lymphoma cancer and so the history of family members suffering from this disease can be one of the many causes of Lymphoma cancer.

There are also some other major causes of Lymphoma cancer. The one that commonly comes to mind when one thinks of the question what is Lymphoma cancer and the causes related to it, is the free radicals that form in the human body because of the presence of carcinogens in the body. There are times when the cancer causing substances are consumed as part of the food. These carcinogens can help in the formation of free radicals that cause damage to the cells of the body and can be one of the main causes of Lymphoma cancer.

Any person who is suffering from some kind of virus infection may develop Lymphoma cancer symptoms. The viral infection because of any kind of virus that wreaks havoc with the immune system can be considered to be the primary causes of Lymphoma cancer.

Liver cancer is very different from some of the other kinds of cancer. The various kinds of cancers start from other foci and can spread, but the causes of liver cancer is from the cells of the liver itself. You might wonder what is liver cancer and what are the causes of liver cancer. The answer is not very simple because of the actual causes of cancer and also the different types of liver cancer.

The causes of liver cancer that is also known as hepatic cancer can be mainly due to the damage to the cells of the liver. The diseases of the liver that are chronic can lead to the damage to the liver cells. People who drink excessively and are addicted to alcohol may be the ones who are affected. Alcoholism is seen to be one of the main causes of liver cancer.

Chronic alcoholism can cause damage to the liver and it can also cause other diseases of the liver. This occurs because of the toxicity which is one of the causes of liver cancer. The toxicity that occurs in the liver can lead to the damage of the liver cells and the damage to the liver cells makes them to grow abnormally and become cancerous. The most common condition that is associated with alcoholism and liver damage is liver cirrhosis that has been found in many people who get liver cancer.

The causes of liver cancer can also be classified based on the area where the cancer occurs. Hepatoma is the cancer of the liver that occurs more commonly. This cancer also is caused mainly because of the hepatitis. There are different kinds of liver diseases and they are all caused by viruses that cause the hepatitis.

There are also many other causes of liver disease. There are people who have been on anabolic steroid treatment for a long time and they have been seen to have got this disease. This also makes one to understand that the long term use of any kind of toxic medications will be one of the main causes of liver cancer because the liver is the part of the body that has to metabolize all the medications that are consumed and the toxicity of the drugs can change the cells of the liver.

The consumption of certain chemicals for a long time even in small amounts can be one of the causes of liver cancer. Some of the chemicals that can be consumed because they are mixed in the water or food are arsenic and also Vinyl chloride and thorium dioxide. Any person who is exposed to any of these toxic chemicals may get liver cancer.

These are the main causes of liver cancer. Treatment of the liver cancer also depends on the cause of the liver cancer. There are some other risk factors like the sex and the ethnicity of the person that can also be the causes for liver cancer in a person.

Your lungs form a very important part of your body and if they are damaged then breathing becomes difficult. There are various causes of lung cancer and you might like to know what is lung cancer and what are the causes of lung cancer. The most leading causes of Lung cancer is smoking. Almost 90% of the people who suffer from this kind of cancer are smokers and the high correlation has made the governments across the world to start health advocacy on the need to stop smoking.

Many people think that cigarette smoking is the only cause of lung cancer, but in reality, the causes of lung cancer is not limited to the cigarette smoke, but the smoke from pipes and cigars are also the leading causes of lung cancer.

Other than active smoking, one of the major causes of lung cancer is the passive smoking. This occurs when a person does not actually smoke, but stays or lives in the vicinity of the person who smokes. Family members and colleagues of the people who smoke are all passive smokers, if they inhale the smoke and have a high risk of getting lung cancer.

If you would like to get beyond the smoking for learning about the causes of lung cancer, then asbestos dust is one of the main causes of lung cancer. A person who is exposed to the dust from asbestos in industries where the asbestos is made or in places where this sheet is used, are all prone to get lung cancer. In fact if a person is not only a smoker but is exposed to asbestos, then the risk of being affected by lung cancer increases greatly.

Radon gas is one of the other causes of lung cancer. This gas occurs in the environment when the Uranium is used up. The Uranium is used in many military installations for the use in nuclear weapons.

People who are having one of their family members being affected by lung cancer will also be at a high risk for being affected by lung cancer. This is called as familial predisposition and this can be one of the major causes of lung cancer.

Lung disorders: Many people who have been suffering from various forms of lung disorders like chronic pulmonary disorders are also having a high risk of being affected by cancer because these lung diseases can cause damage to the lung tissues and make them to function abnormally which can be one of the causes of lung cancer.

Air pollution is also one of the causes of lung cancer. A person who is living in an area where there is a lot of pollution can be affected with cancer. The pollution because of different kinds of gases can lead to difficulty in breathing and also inhalation of these dangerous gases and this can, in turn, lead to lung cancer.

The cause of gastrointestinal cancer, unlike some of the other cancers, is not related to a single part of the body or system. The gastrointestinal cancer or the gastrointestinal stomal cancer as it is also known occurs when the cancer occurs anywhere from the esophagus to the rectum and includes cancer of the stomach, gallbladder, gastrointestinal system, liver, pancreas, colon and the anus.

For anyone who wonders as to what is gastrointestinal cancer and what is the cause of gastrointestinal cancer, here is the answer. There are actually many causes for the gastrointestinal cancer and the specific cause actually depends on the part of the body that is affected by cancer.

The most common cause of the gastrointestinal cancer is smoking. The smoke from the cigarette or other substances enters the body and causes permanent changes to the tissues that are present inside the body. The mutation and the destruction caused by the nicotine and the smoke itself can cause further damage to the body.

Other than the smoking, very high alcohol consumption is what causes gastrointestinal cancer. The reason for this is that when a person consumes alcohol in moderation, it can be beneficial, but when the person consumes a lot of alcohol, it causes a lot of toxicity to the body. The body recognizes the alcohol that is inside the body to be poison and creates immune response against the toxicity that damages the cells and leads to gastrointestinal cancer.

As like in many of the other cancers, the increasing age of the person is another major reason for gastrointestinal cancer symptoms to appear, when one thinks of what causes gastrointestinal cancer. Though the age of the person cannot be controlled, one can try to act against the detrimental effects of age in causing cancer.

The diet that is consumed by you is another factor when you think of what causes gastrointestinal cancer. If you consume a diet that is rich in animal fat, then it can lead a lot of fat stored in the body that can start causing damage to your body.

When one thinks of what causes gastrointestinal cancer, the other common factor that has been identified, as a cause is the presence of high salt in the food that has been poorly preserved.

One of the other important reasons for gastrointestinal cancer is the obesity that can occur. Though it is very difficult to control this condition, it has affected many people because of the lack of exercise and improper diet, but along with these, the obesity can also cause gastrointestinal cancer.

These are the various causes that have been found to be the reason behind the occurrence of gastrointestinal cancer, when one thinks of the reason behind what causes gastrointestinal cancer.

The esophagus, also known as food pipe, is that part of the body’s digestive system that links the stomach to the mouth. It is about 23 cm and runs down from the pharynx to the stomach.

Oesophageal cancer is the malignancy of the musculomembranenous canal. Oesophagus has muscles, which push food down into the stomach.

The exact causes of oesophageal cancer are not known but there are a number of risk factors that are associated with the occurrence of oesophageal cancer:

Smoking and Alcoho:These Two have been thought to be the main risk factors (cause) in the occurrence and development of oesophageal cancer. Tobacco contains nitrosamines and other alkaline chemicals that increase the risk of contracting the disease. Smoking tobacco especially increases the risk of contracting oesophageal adenocarcinoma and squamous cell carcinoma. Drinking a lot of alcohol increases the risk of contracting squamous cell. Carcinoma: The risk becomes even greater if one drinks and smokes. Chewing tobacco also increases the risk.

Gastro-oesophageal reflux disease: This disease occurs when stomach acid comes up into the oesophagus, irritating the oesophagus lining, leading to Barrett’s oesophagus, which makes it very easy for oesophageal cancer to start developing. Adenocarcinoma is the most likely type of cancer to develop.

Keratosis (Tylosis): This is the thickening of the horny layer of the skin, especially on the palms and sole. This increases the risk of developing squamous cell oesophageal cancer.
Cardiac achalasia.:This is the condition where the cardiac sphincter does not relax, thereby allowing some food back into the oesophagus, greatly increasing the risk of contracting adenocarcinoma type of cancer.

Plummer-vinson syndrome: This is a combination of severe glossitis with dysphagia and nutritional iron deficiency anaemia. Having this condition leads to small and thin growth of tissue, blocking part of the oesophagus and thus making swallowing hard. This increases the risk of contracting oesophageal cancer.
Diet: Lack of a well balanced diet increases the risk of contracting oesophageal cancer. Vitamins E, C and A are powerful antioxidants and have anti cancer properties. Lack of a well balanced diet, which excludes these vitamins, vital minerals, and foliate greatly increases the risk of developing oesophageal cancer.

Obesity:This is the deposition of excessive fat around the body, especially in the sub- cutaneous tissue. This increases chances of having acid reflux, increasing the risk of developing adenocarcinoma of the oesophageal.

(h) Other risk factors thought to increase the risk of developing oesophageal cancer are drinking of very hot drinks and often eating of red meat. Here you can also see what is oesophageal (gullet) cancer.

Kidney is a gland located on either side of the vertebral column in the upper posterior abdominal cavity. Its main function is secretion of urine, which flows into the uretus.

The cause of kidney cancer is mainly thought to be as a result of gene mutation (change). Certain changes in the DNA of human body cells, which make up genes are strongly believed to cause kidney cancer. Cells grow, divide and die, giving way to new cells to take over in a natural controlled process. When certain cells fail to die and others continue to grow, cells may be unnecessarily excess, leading to formation of a mass (tumour or cancer), which starts to spread to other organs. Certain inherited DNA changes can lead to conditions running in some families that increase the risk of kidney cancer.

A number of risk factors are also associated with the occurrence of kidney cancer:

Smoking: Cigarette smoking increases the risk of contracting renal cell adenocarcinoma. If a person smokes many cigarettes in a day for a number of years, the risk of contracting renal cell adenocarcinoma becomes very high.

High blood pressure: Certain medicines (diuretics) that are used to treat or manage high blood pressure are thought to put one at risk of contracting kidney cancer, especially renal cell carcinoma. Birt-Hogg-Dube syndrome People with this syndrome, which is characterized by the development of small benign skin tumors, have an increased risk of developing different kinds of renal cell cancers. They may also have benign or malignant tumors of several other tissues.

Hippel-Lindau disease:People with this condition often develop several kinds of tumors and cysts (fluid-filled sacs) in different parts of the body. They have an increased risk for developing clear renal cell carcinoma, especially at a younger age. They may also have benign tumors in their eyes, brain, spinal cord, pancreas and other organs; and a type of adrenal gland tumor called pheochromocytoma. This condition is caused by mutations (changes) in the VHL gene.

Obesity: This is the deposition of excessive fat around the body, especially in the sub- cutaneous tissue. This increases the risk of developing kidney cancer.

Occupation risks: Exposures to certain substances increase the risk of contracting kidney cancer, particularly renal cell carcinoma. These substances include herbicides, cadmium, asbestos, benzene and some organic solvents. Here you can also see what is kidney cancer.

The exact cause of Kaposi’s sarcoma is not known but a number of factors contribute to its occurrence:

AIDS: For patients suffering from AIDS, Kaposi’s sarcoma is caused by interaction between the weakened immune system, HIV and Human Herpes Virus-8 (HHV-8).

Organ transplant:Organ transplant patients, especially those of kidney, have a high risk of developing kaposi’s sarcoma as the drugs they use to stop their immune system from rejecting the organ end up weakening the same immune system, exposing them to risks of contracting or developing kaposi’s sarcoma.

Heredity:This is also believed to be a cause or a risk. This is particularly so where some damage to DNA has occurred, leading to the down line offspring inheriting the cancer.

Over exposure to sunlight: This may lead to damage of DNA and eventually develop skin cancer.

Diet:The body organs require a number of vitamins, minerals, nutrients and amino acids for them to perform their duties effectively. Such can only be found in a balanced diet. Should the organs fail to get this, the cells may mutate (change) and develop into cancer.

Smoking and alcohol: Smoking and heavy drinking may cause cells along the gastrointestinal wall to be damaged and mutate, leading to gastrointestinal cancer.

Infectious diseases: Kaposi’s sarcoma can result from injury to the respiratory tract. Such injury can be caused by a disease on the respiratory tract left untreated over a long period.

Use of drugs:This is believed to cause Kaposi’s sarcoma as drugs such as marijuana have varied dangerous chemicals that are harmful to the skin, lips and respiratory tract.

These biologically similar cancers that start from upper aero digestive tract. These include the lips, mouth, nasal cavity, pharynx and larynx. Most of these cancers are squamous cell carcinomas. Head and neck cancers mostly spread to the neck first before spreading to the lymph nodes. These include oral cavity cancers (the inner lip, taung and floor of the mouth), nasopharynx cancers, oropharynx cancer, hypopharynx cancer and voice box cancer.

Risk factors are thought to be the main causes of head and neck cancers:

Alcohol and tobacco use. Chewing of tobacco is particularly suspected to be the main cause. This is more so in oral cavity cancers. The risk of damage to inner lip, toung and floor of the mouth is high, which may lead to cell mutations or to other diseases which if left untreated, may lead to oral cavity cancer.

Drug use (marijuana). This is dangerous to the nasopharynx and the lungs as well. The heavy chemicals in marijuana can cause damage to the lining cells leading to cell carcinoma.

Exposure to textile fibre.: This is common among textile factory workers, especially those without protective gear as inhaling such fibre may eventually lead to blockage of air waves leading to insufficient supply of oxygen in the body. This can have devastating effects including damage to cells and eventually to cancer.

Woodworking: Woodworking without any protective gear is also dangerous as wood dust not only contain fibre but different chemicals that may alter the proper functioning of a particular organ, leading to tumours forming.

Excessive eating of red meat is believed to be a cause of a number of health problems including head and neck cancers. Heredity: This may be due to the fact that a particular DNA having been destroyed, the down line offspring inherits the trait.

Over exposure to UV rays, especially of the sun, leading to damage to the cells of the skin, which may form lesions and eventually cancer.

Diet: Lack of essential vitamins and nutrients may lead to mutations in the skin cells.

Air Pollution.:Inhaling poisonous chemicals (especially those living near factories) can be dangerous as the chemicals can lead to different types of cancers including head and neck cancers.

Gallbladder is an organ of the body found just below the liver. It is pear-shaped and stores bile, which is manufactured by the liver to digest fat. Bile is released from the gallbladder and passes through the bile duct into the small intestines to digest any fat.

The exact causes of gallbladder cancer are not known but a number of risk factors are associated with its occurrence.

Heredity: It is believed and it is common that those who come from families in which a close relative has gallbladder cancer are at higher risk of getting the disease. Porcelain gallbladder refers to a condition where calcium deposits build up on the inside of the bladder, increasing the risk of contracting gallbladder cancer.

Cigarette smoking and some industrial chemicals contain nitrosamines. These are capable of damaging DNA and increase the risk of developing gallbladder cancer.

Some people are born with abnormalities on their bile ducts. These may be outgrowths along the bile duct or an abnormality between the bile duct and the pancreas. Having this conditions increase the risk of developing gallbladder cancer.

Obesity: This is the deposition of excessive fat around the body, especially in the sub-cutaneous tissue. Being overweight causes changes in hormones in the body, particularly for women. It could be this change in the body’s hormone balance that increases the risk of gallbladder cancer.

Diet: A diet that is rich in carbohydrates and low in fibre may increase the risk of gallbladder cancer. It has been confirmed that a diet rich in vitamins E, A and C, which are antioxidants, greatly reduce the risk of contracting any cancer.

Typhoid fever: It has been noted that repeated infection of Typhoid fever by Typhoid bacteria increases the risk of contracting gallbladder cancer than those who have not been infected. Hormone replacement therapy (HRT): Using HRT increases the risk of getting gallstones, which eventually increases the risk of developing gallbladder cancer.

Gallstones and inflammation: These Two are the common risk factors of gallbladder cancer. Having gallstones doubles the risk of developing gallbladder cancer.
