The causes of liver cancer that is also known as hepatic cancer can be mainly due to the damage to the cells of the liver. The diseases of the liver that are chronic can lead to the damage to the liver cells. People who drink excessively and are addicted to alcohol may be the ones who are affected. Alcoholism is seen to be one of the main causes of liver cancer.

Chronic alcoholism can cause damage to the liver and it can also cause other diseases of the liver. This occurs because of the toxicity which is one of the causes of liver cancer. This also makes one to understand that the long term use of any kind of toxic medications will be one of the main causes of liver cancer because the liver is the part of the body that has to metabolize all the medications that are consumed and the toxicity of the drugs can change the cells of the liver.

The consumption of certain chemicals for a long time even in small amounts can be one of the causes of liver cancer. Some of the chemicals that can be consumed because they are mixed in the water or food are arsenic and also Vinyl chloride and thorium dioxide. Any person who is exposed to any of these toxic chemicals may get liver cancer.

HCC stands for HepatoCellular Carcinoma and it is the most common type primary liver cancer.  Medical history shows that the amount of people who are suffering from HCC is increasing day by day. It is also proved that in almost 4 cases of liver cancer the 3 are due to hepatocytes cancer. The growth of cancerous cells is varied in different cases like sometimes a small tumor grows in the liver and then becomes larger, as the time passes on  it spreads in the other body organ. While it may also happen that the more than one tumor is grow in the various region of liver, it is normally occur in the case of ongoing liver cancer that is known as Cirrhosis.

Hepatoblastoma is very rare kind of Primary liver cancer in which the tumors are begin to produce in the right lobe of liver. Usually Hepatoblastoma is found in the children. Some other forms of primary liver cancer are Cholangiocarcinomas , Lymphoma , Angiosarcoma and Hemangiosarcoma.

Metastatic is a secondary form of liver cancer .In the secondary form of liver cancer the target area _from where the growth of cancerous cells starts on some other organ or tissue not the liver but after some time period the cancer prevails in the liver organ. In case of secondary liver cancer if the patient is suffering from advanced breast cancer or colorectal cancer, or lung cancer, and  or many other cancers,  the condition of patient becomes more critical than the cancerous cells start targeting the liver.

Hemangiomas are the most common types of benign tumors of liver; these tumors grow in the blood vessels of liver organ. Usually there is no prominent symptoms of Hemangiomas found .The treatment of liver benign tumors is the removal of tumors from the vessels. Sometimes the tumors are bleeding from the liver so there is no requirement of treatment

Hepatic adenomas are the benign epithelial liver tumors that are started in the right hepatic lobe of liver and then spread to some other organ. One of the Symptoms of this type of liver tumor is severe abdominal pain .The prognosis for the hepatic adenomas is not perfect. Malignant transformation, spontaneous hemorrhage, and rupture are some correlation found in case of this type of benign tumor of liver.

Focal Nodular hyperplasia FNH is very common type of liver tumor benign. The reason behind FNH is a congenital arteriovenous malformation hepatocytes response. Actually in this form of benign tumor starts because of abnormal pattern of essential constituents of liver. The abnormal presence of constituent of liver will not disturb or affect the proper functioning of liver in any case.

Liver is an organ that is a composite of various cells and two distinct lobes i.e. the right lobe and the left lobe. It is largest as compared to other organ of the body due to which there are number of tumors that become a probable cause of liver cancer. Some tumors are cancerous while other are non cancerous. Malignant are the cancerous tumors while on the other hand benign are non cancerous tumors.

Liver cancer is of different types depending upon the different tumors due to which the cancer is spread in the organ of human body. Usually the liver cancer starts from the hepato and then prevails in the other cells or tissue of liver. When the tumors grow on or in the hepato is termed as malignant hepatic tumors, this cancer shows the presence of tumors or cancerous cells in the organ.

There is wide variety of tests that are helpful in the exact diagnosis of liver cancer such as medical imaging is quite useful for identification of liver tumors that may spread to whole organ and then leads to terrific problem for patient. It is necessary to diagnose the liver cancer in the early stage of liver cancer because the more time involved in the diagnosis process will enhance the problem. When the cancerous cells grow in the liver directly then it is easier to get the clear idea of cancer stage.
