Cause of Gastrointestinal Cancer

The cause of gastrointestinal cancer, unlike some of the other cancers, is not related to a single part of the body or system. The gastrointestinal cancer or the gastrointestinal stomal cancer as it is also known occurs when the cancer occurs anywhere from the esophagus to the rectum and includes cancer of the stomach, gallbladder, gastrointestinal system, liver, pancreas, colon and the anus.

What is Gastrointestinal Cancer?

What is gastrointestinal cancer? The gastrointestinal cancer means the growth and reproduction of cancerous abnormal cells in the gastrointestinal tract i.e. the stomach and intestine. This cancer is  a slow moving cancer that produce abnormal hormones in the lining of gastrointestinal tract that include the esophagus, stomach, liver, biliary system, pancreas, bowels, and anus. The gastrointestinal cancer may originate from the smaller pouch of large intestine or appendix or from rectum.

The person who is victim of gastrointestinal cancer may be suffered from some other forms of cancer that start in the digestive system of human body such as stomach cancer/gastric cancer, GIST (gastrointestinal stromal tumors) , liver cancer/HCC/hepatoma/ hepatocellular carcinoma, gallbladder  cancer, pancreatic cancer,  anal cancer, esophageal cancer etc
