Diagnosis of Cervical cancer normally starts with the Pelvic exam and a Pap test. If you don’t know exactly about cervical cancer they you get its detail from this page, what is cervical cancer? If you already know about this cancer then feel free to proceed for its diagnosis.

Pelvic Exam:

This exam includes the physical check up of a woman’s vagina, uterus, bladder and rectum. The basic purpose of this exam is to check these organs in order to find out any kind of change in their shapes or size and to detect any lump. Normally doctors insert a speculum (an instrument ) into the vagina to see the upper part of the vagina and the cervix.

Pap smear or Pap test:

In this test doctors collect the cells from the cervix or upper part of vagina and later on these collected cells are checked in the laboratory. Through this test the doctors try to spot the abnormalities or changes in the cervix’s lining.

Colposcopy:

When the doctors observed any kind of abnormalities from the Pap smear test then the doctors go for Colposcopy. In this method the doctors checked the patient’s cervix with the mean of magnifying lens or colposcopy. They collect the cells and then examine them so that they get conformation about the existence of cervical cancer.

When the result shows precancerous changes in cells, abnormal tissue growth or carcinoma in situ, the doctor removes the tissue and start the treatment of cervix cancer.

In case invasive cancer is revealed through exam then the doctor will request more tests to know about the extent of your cancer. Here are these tests:

Physical Exam: The detailed check up of the rectum and anus.

Cytoscopy: the doctor examines the bladder with the help of a lighted scope.

Rectosigmoidoscopy: It includes visual inspection of rectum incase the cancerous cells invaded the organ.

Postiton Emission Tomography (PET): in this scanning process, the doctors try to detect the spread of cancer beyond your cervix or to nearby lymph nodes.

Computed Tomography (CT) : In this scan , the detail images are shown to doctors and thereby they get an idea about the areas where the cancer has spread.

Pyelogram :in this test a special dye is injected into vein and after that an X-ray of urinary system is taken.

Other tests include chest X-rays and blood test. Through all these tests, the doctors try to know more about the cause of cervical cancer and also its stage and extent.

There is no particular reason why one woman develops cervical cancer and why not another. When the cancer is diagnosed, it’s natural to wonder what has caused the cancer. There is no particular risk factor based on which one can confirm that due to this particular risk factor the woman has developed the cancer. Some of the causes of cervical cancer are: HPV infection – HPV is very common cause of cervical cancer. It spreads from person to person by sexual contact. Every adult gets infected by this virus at one or the other time. However this virus gets cleared up all by itself.

Some types of this virus cause changes to the cervix cells. The transformation of the cervix cells can be stopped in the early stage of the cancer is diagnosed on time and of course the causes of the cervical cancer will be known and it would be easy to make a choice for the right treatment.  Before going for any treatment collect information on the type of cancer if you are suffering from cervical cancer the first thing you should know is that what exactly the cervical cancer is? Knowing your disease will help you get better treatment for it.

Weak immune system is another one cause of the cervical cancer– Possibility of getting the cervical cancer is more in those who are infected with HIV or those who have weak immune system. Smoking – women who have smoking habit and are infected with HPV are easy victims for cervical cancer. Women having multiple sexual partners or vice versa also have high chances of getting infected with HPV and developing cervical cancer.

Birth control pills usage for years together can also increase the chances of HPV infections and in turn cervical cancer. Usage of such pills can cause a serous form of cervical cancer in women. Women who have given birth to multiple children also have high chances of HPV infection and cervical cancer and they can be infected by the cancer easily. Daughters of women who might have taken DES (diethylstilbestrol) drug when they were pregnant also have high chances of HPV and cervical cancer. A woman with HPV infection always need not get this disease. Early detection is always helpful in prevention of this cancer. Here you can also see what is cervical cancer.

Cervix is the important reproductive organ of woman, which exists in the lower and the narrow part of the female organ Uterus also called as womb. The main cause of cancer is with the cells that build up the human structure. The cycle of human structure is in the way that for every periodic time old cells in the human body dies and new cells are raised. If the new cells production is excess in the human body then they create an extra mass structure in the human body.

The type of cancer that gets infected from the cells on the Cervix is known as Cervical Cancer. Once the cells at the Cervix level are infected these infected cells spreads gradually from Cervix affecting the nearby cells and enters into the blood vessels and slowly spread to the all other parts of the body. The cancer cells have the tendency to spread and from more and more cells in a rapid way and form may tumors in the body. The rapid increase of the cancer in the human body is known as Metastasis. Cervical cancer in the early stages cannot be detected, but when the caner is in the larger stage women can conclude by abnormal bleeding, Pain during Menstrual periods and Pain when participated in sex etc.

Based on the extent of the infection and the areas of the infection found the Cervical Cancer can be diagnosed in many ways and is divided in to different stages. Women suffering with the Cervical Cancer can get this reduced by getting done the PAP tests, the test that is used to identify the infected cells in Cervix on regular basis. Depending on the PAP test results the doctors will go on with some other tests for diagnosing the situation. If the spread of cancer of this type is vast then the patient can go up with different types of treatment like radiation therapy, chemo therapy and also with surgery.
