Feel free to visit this page What is Bone cancer? Normally some imagining studies are suggested by the physician for the diagnosis of bone cancer.

X-rays:

It is usually the first test in the diagnosis process of bone cancer. Through X-rays doctors came to know the type of cancer and also get an idea whether this cancer is malignant or benign .On the X-rays images ,benign tumors are more likely to have a smooth border while malignant tumors are more likely to have a ragged border.

CT scan/ Computed Tomography:

It is an advanced technique in which the doctors get clear cross-sectional images of patient’s bones. With the mean of CT Scan , physician easily identify the bone tumor and also find the detail of this tumor such as its location and size.

MRI / Magnetic Resonance Imaging:

This process provides the cross-section pictures of bone to the doctors. This is more advanced technique in comparison with CT scan that’s why it offers better and clear results. The doctors find it easy to collect the detail of the soft tissues, including muscles, tendons, ligaments, nerves, and blood vessels

Bone Scan:

This test is used to spot areas of rapidly growing or remodeling bone. it may be used for other conditions such as for infection , fracture and arthritis including bone tumor. The doctors suggest this test to scan any other areas of bone involvement throughout the body.

When the tumor is identifies via such tests then the doctors try to know the exact cause of bone cancer by combining the details that they get through physical exams, medical history and test results.

Biopsy:

In case the tumor is identified, the doctor removes a sample of tissue to determine the kind of tumor. The doctors either used needle biopsy( a small needle ) or incisional biopsy( a small incision) for removing the bone tissue. There come different imaging studies that make it possible for the doctors to recognize the easiest and safest location from where the sample tissue will be removed for biopsy.

There are no specific factors identified and determined as yet which cause the bone cancer, but researchers have identified some of the risk factors which are more likely to be the causes of having bone cancer.

The bone cancer is not a contagious or an infectious disease. There are certain risk factors which increase the chance in a person of developing and getting the bone cancer. The risk factors are actually not the reasons and causes of bone cancer, but they may simultaneously act to increase the tendency in an individual to develop the disease.

Some of the risk factors identified are the chemotherapy treatment or person’s history of having the Paget’s disease.

The some of the other known, and specific risks associated with the bone cancer include people who have a strong and high tendency with hereditary retinol blastema, being a young adult or child, having a family history of bone cancer, chemotherapy or being exposed to prior radiations, history of Paget’s disease.

The scientists and researchers are still continuing to search and find out the causes for bone cancer. People who are concerned with the developing factors and the known risk factors; they must immediately talk to the doctor about these symptoms occurring and condition. The doctors’ advice and medication will be based upon the age of the person, the medical history and several other factors. Here you can also see what is bone cancer.

The human body consists of 206 bones. These bones serve up multiple-diverse functions. Firstly, the bones provide composition to the human body and help to provide a framework and shape. Different Muscles are attached to the bones which enable them to move. Without the bones the human body would become just a pile of soft tissues without any shape and structure, not making a person able to move, stand or walk.

Secondly, the bones help to guard the fragile and delicate organs of the human body. For instance, the skull bones protect the brain, the vertebrae of spine protect the spinal cord, and the ribs protect lungs and the heart.

Thirdly, the bones contain a bone marrow, which stores and makes new blood cells. Lastly, the bones are helpful in controlling the human body’s compilation of a variety of nutrients and proteins including phosphorus and calcium.

Cancer is now even discovered to be in the bones in various different circumstances. When bone cancer is diagnosed, it is necessary to make a distinction whether this cancer has extended from another site to the bones or if the cancer originated itself in the bone tissue. This distinction is imperative not only to get the correct treatment, but also to clearly verify which treatment options are complete and appropriate.

There are more than hundred kinds of bone cancer, and each is named for the tissue or organ where which it begins. When the cancer cells spread to the bones, it may travel through the lymphatic channels to the lymph nodes, or it may enter the bloodstream, travelling to the other locations and organs of the body that are distanced from the site of the primary and original tumor. The nature of bone cancers is specifically and likely to be spread to the bones. Cancers which generally spread and metastasize to the human body bones are cancer of kidneys, breast cancer, prostate cancer, lungs cancer, and thyroid cancer.
